Welcome to my blog! My name is Jenny and I am excited to have you here!
I am the happy mother of two 20 year olds…feeling a little sad about that, but looking forward to what their lives hold for them!
Happily married to my childhood sweetheart for 27 years! Looking forward to the next quarter century with him!
I current am a reading specialist and professional development presenter. My main job is a Title I/ RTI teacher/coordinator in Illinois. Our school sits at the edge of the Mississippi River opposite the state of Iowa. In the past 27 years I have been a classroom teacher in grades 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th and a Title I teacher/RTI teacher. Moving around and having the opportunity to experience so many stages of learning has prepared me for doing what I love…teaching developing readers! I cannot imagine doing anything else with my days!
Me and my students:)
Recently, I have ventured into the world of presenting to teachers and administrators. I absolutely love it! My presentations focus on helping teachers learn how to create engaging and exciting ways to incorporate technology into literacy instruction. Not only do our young readers need 21st Century instruction, they need it provided in a 21st Century way…through technology!
How do I provide this professional development to busy teachers and administrators?
1. I provide full day workshops in central and western Illinois Workshop Forms
2. I provide instruction through free and paid video sessions found in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. Link2Teach TpT Store
3. I provide free social media sessions through my Instagram, Facebook, and Periscope accounts.
Instagram (Instagram Live Video)
Facebook (Live and Archived Video)

I am blessed to love what I do!
My 5 Keys For Teaching Struggling Readers
1st: Reading Motivation!
(Without it…true readers are not formed.)
(Knowing what a young reader needs is of utmost importance in order to provide it.)
(In order to reach struggling readers they need to feel they are respected and loved.)
(Gaining information and brainstorming ideas with various experts to assist struggling readers is key.)
(This is true for both student and teacher.)
